Taronga Zoo :: Sky Safari Ride

We visited Taronga Zoo on a clear Saturday morning. As mentioned in a previous post, we took the ferry from Circular Quay to the zoo. It was a 15 minute ferry ride. You can also take other modes of transportation to the zoo as well.

Taronga Zoo
is located on the shores of Sydney Harbour and was officially opened in 1916. It is 69 acres and is divided into eight regions and is home to about 4,000 animals. The zoo is open daily, with hours differing on what time of year - from May to August, 9:30am until 4:30pm, from September to April, 9:30am until 5pm and on New Years Eve, 9:30am until 4pm.

Tickets for adults run $46, children (4-16) run $26. You can get discounts if you get your tickets online and they also have deals for families. We got our ticket for a family deal of two adults and one child, children under 4 are free. We bough our tickets outside the wharf just before you board the ferry. You can also buy your ticket at the main entrance or near the entrance/exit to the ferry.

Included in the ticket, is the ride up to the zoo on the Sky Safari. It takes you over the zoo and gives you a view of not only the animals down below you but also of the harbour. I would probably go to the zoo again if only to see the view again and again. What zoo can boast such a view!
