Sea Life Sydney Aquarium

This past Monday, I took the kids to go check out the Sea Life Sydney Aquarium. Since arriving on Saturday, M would always notice that signs for the aquarium and all the photos posted along the wall. She'd always ask, 'Are we going there now?' Her long short wait was over.

Just one of the few signs you see as you walk along the promenade

Sea Life Sydney Aquarium is located along the promenade on Darling Harbour, and is housed along with Wild Life Sydney Zoo and Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum. Tickets for one adult and even one child is pricey, but they do offer deals to help save you money. You can buy a two, three, four or five attraction deal but you are limited to being able to visit each location once. The Merlin Pass (unlimited) is the way to go, especially if you think you will be going more than once to the same location. I made the mistake of not buying this pass, more on that later.

Sea Life Sydney Aquarium is open from 9:30am until 5pm and also has a cafe on site. It has different exhibits - Dugong Island, Shark Valley, Little Penguins and others. From the outside, the aquarium looks deceptively small but is HUGE inside. I was afraid that we were going to be done in 30 minutes, since M just wanted to keep going quickly.

Photo is a bit blurry but in here, M noticed that the penguins had different colored bracelets on their legs

The Penguin Exhibit features a ride, that takes you through the exhibit itself and very close to the penguins. We ended up doing this ride 5x and it was hard to take the kids away in order to look at the remaining sections offered.

So close!

Waiting patiently to get on the boat.

As you leave the aquarium, they have a coloring station for the children, where they can color some jellyfish or fish and have it scanned to have it 'swim' in the ocean. This reminded me of when we went to PACE Gallery in Menlo Park, which is now closed, I think.

Thank you for such a great morning Sea Life Sydney Aquarium. I'm sure we will be back again, M is already asking when we can go back to the Penguin ride, which makes me feel bad for not buying the Merlin Pass instead of the Attraction Pass.
