The Skeleton King Must Die...

... again.

from anandtech.com

Many people have been eagerly awaiting for Blizzard to release Diablo III, the long-awaited sequel to Diablo II. And, it is here. The pandemonium has been high- with many receiving the dreaded Error 37. Basically, the entire world descended on Blizzard's servers right when they unleashed Diablo III to the world, midnight, May 15th, 2012.

Granted, it has only been two days since the release and the dreaded errors are still coming up. One would think that Blizzard prepared itself for the onslaught of rabid Diablo fans. But, there is no better test than having millions of people sign in and flood your entire system trying their hand to beat the Skeleton King. Never mind the countless hours the developers had to do to make this game or the countless beta testing. Ummm... scratch that, I don't want to talk about the beta testing. Well, if you must, to make a long story short- I did not know that I had an invite to the beta until the dear hubby of mine decided to check my account- he was itching to play WoW again.  (World of Warcraft) Mind you, this was sometime this year, March, I think... And, he saw the pending invite- UNOPENED! Let's just say, he was not very happy that I've had the invite since October and have not played. And, I had a very good reason to- Switzerland and we were packing everything in order to move to the house.

But, that is not the point of this post... Yes, I was and am one of those fans that eagerly awaited Diablo III. Diablo II was just too long ago, a distant memory away. It was released back in 2000 and Blizzard did not announce that they were planning a sequel to it until 2008. It has been four years since that announcement and here we are today. I distinctly remember attending BlizzCon 2010 and was able to play Diablo III there. And, now, two years later- finally! Like a starving man...

If you don't know the story behind the Lord of Terror, Diablo, let me walk you through briefly. Diablo takes place in Tristam, where King Leoric decided to make his kingdom, right next to the ruins that housed Diablo's soulstone. Let me backtrack, Diablo was trapped into a soulstone by Tyrael, an archangel during the time of the ascension of man and Angels and Demons have been in a war for years, trying to recruit men to their cause. All in all, Diablo possesses the king and turns Tristam into a town of fear and horror. Spoiler- King Leoric became the Skeleton King when he was re-animated by Diablo. And, this was our first introduction to the Skeleton King.

And, here he is again... He lived to serve another day, only to die at my hands... Okay, not my hands, but my character's hands. So far, I'm enjoying playing the wizard, but that is always my go to class. All that magic and power at my disposal- Ok, I admit, I don't tank, I hate tanking, which is probably why I always enjoy being a range DPS. For all of you, scratching your head- that's damage per second. But, I do have a Demon Hunter, as well... another range DPS.

I haven't gotten that far into the story yet, so as to not reveal anymore... I will leave it at this and just let you find out for yourself. I know, I'd like to know what is next after the Skeleton King...
