Diary of a First Time Mom

"We never know the love of a parent
till we become parents ourselves."
- Henry Ward Beecher

I'm not a mom, yet, though I am starting to feel like I already am. But, in a few more weeks or so, I will be bringing home a small being that's 50% me and 50% of my other half. And, life as we know it, will change.

As I have mentioned in a few previous posts {here, here, and here}, we are expecting and we are very excited to meet our little peanut.

Here are some things that I've learned while talking to friends who recently have had babies and from going to baby prep classes. It's amazing how much you have to get ready and prepare for.

  • Burpies are amazing.
  • Buy diapers and wipes in bulk from Costco, if you have a membership.
  • You never really know what you need until the baby arrives.
  • IMPORTANT - Get car seat fitted and inspected.
  • You don't need that many newborn clothes, they'll grow out of it quickly.
  • When you nest, you nest. (This I'm learning and living through right now)
  • People are nicer when you're pregnant.
  • Baby sign language.
  • Having help is great. For the parents. There is someone to take care of you, while you take care of the baby - laundry, dinner, etc.
  • People will give you stuff that you need.

Any thoughts? Am I missing anything?
