Unique SF

UNIQUE SF was this past weekend! It is the largest curated, independent show in the country aside from  UNIQUE  LA and  UNIQUE  NYC. This is the very first annual Unique SF and I am glad to be able to go and check it out.

It was held at the Concourse Exhibition Center, East Hall, in the Design District on June 30th and July 1st. The cost was just $10 and free parking along the street. I got my tickets through EventBrite. Admission for $10 got you an exclusive UNIQUE SF tote bag, free drinks at the wine bar, DIY Workshops and etc...

It is smaller than Maker's Faire but still so much fun. I saw some vendors that were at Maker's Faire also at UNIQUE SF. There were about 250 vendors, who were hand-selected to show at UNIQUE SF. If you want to be a vendor, check out this link

The shopping event made it very easy to get access to locally made designs from jewelry to clothes to artwork. Support local. :) The other great thing aside from supporting local artists, is how UNIQUE partners with a non-profit organization to foster awareness to local community groups. UNIQUE SF partnered with 826Valencia, which is a literary foundation that supports students between 6-18 with their writing skills and getting them excited about the literary works. Here you can see a video of 826Valencia's co-founder Dave Eggers presenting at TED Talks back in '08.

Here are some pics from the event:

Tom and I brought some artwork from this guy below. The colors are great and goes so well with our yellow walls in the foyer.
Some interesting ties made from wood can be seen below. On the picture to the right, directly below this text, is Mac's Boards, I think. We got a new cutting board from this place, very unique. Some vendors started their business because friends were getting pregnant and they wanted to give them something unique- like the elephants wading in the water, or the onesies.

If you're into Steampunk, this vendor is for you. It is amazing. They've turned old watches into necklaces (I got one). One great way to preserve the old by making it into something new.

Having fun, while taking some pics...

See you next year!!!
