Prometheus (movie review)

Prometheus- a Titan, sentenced to eternal torment, by stealing fire for the humans...

I would be lying if I said that I wasn't looking forward to watching Prometheus in the movie theaters. And, I did go and watch it. Here, I am sitting at my desk back home, trying to formulate a movie review.

Granted, I was partly excited about the movie because it had great actors in it. And, the major contributor was that the hubby enjoyed Alien when it came out some twenty years now. Both films are directed by Ridley Scott and I'm not sure what to say. I did some mental preparation for this film, watching the original Alien with the hubby. While, the concept is great, the set and everything was a little dated. I guess, I got used to how we do films nowadays and that was one   thing I was looking forward to- was the film set. How can they make this world, this universe that Ridley Scott introduced to us even better. The movie can't be considered a prequel to Alien, since, its in a different planet, which makes you question many things you thought you knew about this franchise.

The movie opens with an alien, scratch that, a humanoid, near a waterfall drink something and die. Now, that I am thinking about it- I don't know if they actually addressed that in the movie. Maybe, I missed something. Again, cinematics are great- I love the waterfalls, the valleys, etc. It made me feel like I was flying through the Grand Canyon and seeing the Nazca lines.  It also reminded me of the game Mass Effect. The movie has Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Guy Pierce, Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace. Miss Rapace was also the original Girl with the Dragon TattooThe acting is interesting... I'm trying to mull the words that would best describe the characters. Michael Fassbender is amazing as David, an android, who under orders experiments on Dr. Shaw and Dr. Holloway. Spoilers- the alien was born from a human and a snake-like alien, who lives in canisters, being used as weapons, by engineers, who are also humans.

Yes, it is head turning isn't it? I remain 50:50. I can't say bad things on the movie since I feel like they delivered but I don't think they delivered enough oomph. Good things- more questions are raised, cinematics...

Drop me a comment and let me know what you think of the movie.
